Digital X-Rays

X-rays are a very important tools for dental care. They reveal many problems with the teeth that are not visible to the naked eye, and can follow the development of teeth that have not yet emerged. X-rays’ can easily identify decay on the inside of the tooth, or in a place that is difficult to see. They also show the bone structure of the face and jaw. This is helpful in the determination of a potential problem with joint alignment or other issues.

Digital X-Rays are a new technique used in modern dentistry

Digital X-rays provide several advantages over traditional X-rays that can help your dentist more accurately diagnose problems with your teeth.

Our office can also more easily and accurately compare current X-rays with older ones, so that we can spot any irregularities or unexpected changes. Digital X-rays are compared with a digital process called subtraction radiography. In this process, elements that are the same between pictures is subtracted, leaving only the differing elements behind. This makes irregularities, changes or problems stand out clearly for easy evaluation. Learn more about dental x-rays here (this link takes you to Mouth Healthy Website).

There are many benefits to using digital dental x-ray technology

=

Require less radiation

=

Images can often be corrected without having to make another x-ray exposure

=

Environmentally friendly as they eliminate the need for film and film processing chemicals

=

Images can be sent directly to a computer and viewed right away

=

Can be sent electronically to insurance companies, which may help claims get processed faster

Soft Tissue Treatment - Dental Office in Michigan

The Odyssey Navigator Diode Laser is the most recent addition to our technology arsenal!

This amazing technology is a soft tissue diode laser that has multiple clinical uses. It offers patients with superior results compared to other forms of soft tissue management. The primary benefit is the decrease in post-operative pain and discomfort from soft tissue dental treatment and decrease in healing time. This translates to faster procedures, little or no discomfort, and reduced healing time!
Types of soft tissue procedures this incredible technology is used for:
Some examples include: gingival sterilization and hemostasis, gingival (gum) recontouring, lesion removal and biopsy, operculectomy (removal of excess tissue on 3rd molars erupted in mouth), and frenulectomy (tongue tied or lip release).

The soft tissue laser is often used in treating cold sores that occur on patients’ lips and oral tissue. The laser’s immediate reduction in pain and decreased healing time is significant and noticeable – all without any discomfort.  If you are in need for any type of soft tissue procedure, our experienced local dental practice has the training and knowledge required to provide fast and effective relief using this amazing technology!

Oral Cancer Screening

Oral Cancer kills more individuals than cervical cancer, testicular cancer, and brain cancer each year! Over 30,000 Americans contract oral cancer, and less than 60% of those infected will live for more than five years if gone without treatment. A common belief, is the avoidance of alcohol and tobacco use will not lead to oral cancer. The fact is that 25% of those diagnosed with oral cancer abstain from both substances. We suggest to our patients to get annual oral cancer screenings, as the best way to stay protected from oral cancer. In-fact, during  a regular dental checkup, many dentists do perform an oral cancer exam.

Oral Cancer Screening Oral-ID System

Introducing Oral-ID Oral Cancer Screening!

The examination for oral cancer, with the Oral-ID System, literally only takes two or three minutes!
The examination not only saves many lives each year, it is noninvasive and painless!
This latest technology, is FDA-Approved, and offers dental professionals an effective tool to help identify oral cancer in its early stages. The Oral-ID is a blue light, which can highlight cancerous and precancerous cell changes. Using Fluorescence Visualization, the bright blue light is shone into the mouth which exposes lesions and changes that otherwise would be invisible to the naked eye. A significant challenge in the diagnosing oral cancer, is that its symptoms are difficult to differentiate between less serious problems. With the technology of the Oral-ID System, dentists are armed with critical insights as to what is happening beneath the surface.
Dental Oral Cancer Screening Michigan Dental Office
The technology enables the healthy soft tissue of the mouth to naturally absorb the Oral-ID frequency of the blue light. The problem areas become much darker, as the healthy areas beneath the surface of the soft tissue show up green.

Advantages of the Oral-ID Oral Cancer Screening System

=

Detects lesions, white and red patches

=

Exposes precancerous and cancerous tissue

=

Helps diagnose oral cancer in its earliest stages, exponentially increasing the chance of survival

=

Detects problem areas that cannot be seen under white light

=

Helps dentists check that diseased soft tissue is completely removed

=

Quick, painless examinations and FDA-Approved!

Digital Panorex X-Ray Uses Less Radiation Than Traditional X-Rays!

Our dental office uses efficient and safe x-ray technology, for analyzing our patients teeth. Utilizing a Panorex, much like a panoramic picture, we are able to obtain a full view of the entire oral cavity. One of the many benefits of the Panorex x-ray, is that it provides a picture of all of your teeth and the surrounding bones. This is very important, as our dental office can detect potential problems other x-rays cannot.

The digital Panorex x-ray technology uses less radiation than traditional x-rays. With all the benefits of a Panorex x-ray, why would you not have one taken?

A Panorex is an excellent way for your dentist to check for problems such as:

Sinus problems

Early detection of oral cancer, tumors and cysts

Air Abrasion

Using gentle air to spray a stream of tiny particles, we are able to remove tooth decay without casing discomfort to our patients. Using this technology, the procedure is relatively painless without sound or the friction of a drill. The particles can effectively remove tiny bits of material in the affected tooth. The debris is removed with the help of a suction tube.  Offering unique benefits to patients and dentists alike, when used to perform restorative and preventive dental procedures.

There are many benefits to this dental tool, which include;

=

Removing dental cavities

=

Preparing teeth for bonding

=

Filling cavities with composite material

=

Removing stains on the tooth surface

Ultrasonic Cleaning

Utilizing the ultrasonic scaler, the Cavitron allows our dental practice to do a more thorough job in less time. We are able to significantly decrease the time required for scaling, which ultimately leads to a healthier mouth, cleaner teeth and gums. Unlike hand scalers, which require repetitive scraping action and are restricted to only one or two sides of the instrument – the power scaler has many benefits. For example, all four sides can be used, because of the device’s elliptical movement. We are able to more effectively remove stains and clean behind and between the teeth. In addition, the ultrasonic motion helps control oral bacteria and aids in the removal of the deposits.

The result, is a brighter and whiter smile, all without any discomfort to our patients!

Prophy-Jet

During your dental visit, our dental hygienist will polish your teeth with a Prophy-Jet. The Prophy-Jet is an air-polishing system that uses water, air, and sodium bicarbonate to quickly remove dental stains, plaque, and soft debris while simultaneously polishing tooth surfaces. Your mouth will feel cleaner as the deposits from your teeth will be removed. When you leave our dental office after a cleaning, you will experience that fresh feeling that will encourage proper oral hygiene at home.
